Cat: Roman as in the Ancient Roman Empire that used Latin for a language. The name for Paris during the Roman Empire was Lutetia.
Count Dracula is a character that Bram Stoker, an Irish Gothic novelist who lived in the late 19th century, invented. He based it on Prince Vlad of Transylvania. This Prince had the habit of staking his enemies on pikes, giving him a very bloodthirsty outlook.
The closer equivalent to a blood-drinker would be Countess Elizabeth Bathory of Hungary. She lived in the 16th century. When she was convicted of murder at the age of 40+, she had the complexion of a 20+. She was convicted because she abducted virgin village gals, killed them, and bathed in their blood (also got ppl say she drank their blood). She killed more than 60 gals.

wow, tts rather knowledgeable of you to know so many things! well, for me, i only know ancient Rome used Latin and I do know abit of it=) But normally Latin is only used for written purposes and seldom speaking. Its a international written language I would say.
But nonetheless, I'm impressed.=)))

Note to Shirley: Lutetia is featured in the comic "Asterix". Vlad the Impaler is featured in many western vampire sites. Countess Elizabeth Bathory was introduced to me by a friend, and she's also featured in a book about the 100 most notorious criminals. No longer is Latin spoken. It is now a dead language, but still very much alive in writing. "Et cetera" is Latin. Scientific names are in Latin. Many compound English words have obvious Latin roots, which in turn also reflect Greek roots, because Latin was partly derived from Greek. Example: Binoculars - "Bi" is a Latin prefix for two. "Oculus" is Latin for "eye". Binoculars means 2-eyes (ha ha)...no lah it means the device for seeing faraway birds...

wow, indeed very impressed by you. alot of the english words are made up of latin actually, but in actual latin, the english people can't really understand it, irony aint? haha, FYI, alot of the chemicals and elements are latin actually so as to minimise the dispute between scientists and archeologists as to using what what language to name the elements or artefacts.=)
anyway, ur note to me is quite useless, cause im not as well versed as you, haha.
now we all noe that saejan is knowledgeable!LOL

Cat: Not so kua1 zhang1 lah ha ha...*paiseh* Dag: Whenever Shirley: Go read Asterix comic ah, quite nice Latin grammar is a little different. If you learn Latin, you can actually master most European languages fast, because many of them stem from Latin. My history teacher learnt Latin in his younger days. He found French, German, Italian and Spanish all easy to pick up. He's British so it's understood his English was sound And Latin words are not our familiar words. They are incepted into English is a way that those words do not occur straightforwardly. Eyes is the common term in English, while Oculus is Latin (it's used as a suffix). Ha ha I read a little beyond school syllabus, so I know a little out-of-syllabus stuff, but I forget to read within syllabus, so my exam results buang ha ha

Dag: However
I'd rather respect her initial wishes to be left alone, then get a hasty "Sorry, I busy" reply folloewd by a closed window in attempting to chat her up. Better she think I am scared of her, then let her think I am irritating.
